Author: DONALD WILLIAMS SHUPER (PUUUHLEESE)
Subject: WILLIAMS RANCH

The WILLIAMS ( not willms) ranch was about 1200 acres. Only about 10 acres was in Stanislaus county, the majority being in Tuolume county - NOT Calaveras county. How do I know this for a fact? My grandfather was H.L. (" linc" - lincoln ) Williams and he owned the ranch, established in 1852. His cattle brand was the 2nd oldest in Tuolume county. Some of the land patents were signed by U.S Grant. The ranch extended from the Stanislaus River ( 2 mile bar ) along the County line southward. Other films were the "Coffeyville Raid" in the 70's. " A man called gannon " , and some others. The wells fargo stagecoach logo was filmed along the "old road to Sonora" which in the late 1800s ran along the county line and thru the ranch.

Don

MY brother and I owned the ranch until the late 1990's.
