BONANZA: The Official Third Season vol. 1 and vol. 2 out July 17, 2012

Dunno who these guys at TVShowsonDVD know to get the nitty gritty details so far
in advance, but since the cat's out of the bag (so to speak) I can report I just
returned from Los Angeles yesterday, where I supervised the recording of five
(5) brand new audio commentaries. They're all great, and the alumni had plenty
of fascinating things to say about their adventures on the Ponderosa. There's
lots more special features and surprises, plus all the episodes have been
remastered earlier this year from original 35mm film elements, so the results
are SPECTACULAR. Lake Tahoe never looked better. I promise this will be a set to
remember, and if you think you've already seen this season cuz you bought DVDs
from other sources, well, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

BONANZA Season 3 is now up at Amazon in the complete season and the separate volumes. Anyone can pre-order! They don't have the cover art up, but will soon. I have a feeling there will be a LOT of reviews!

Sounds very interesting. I would be very interested to hear who were the "alumni (who) had plenty of fascinating things to say about their adventures on the Ponderosa."

The various commentaries really made the Gunsmoke DVD episodes "come alive" for the viewer.

I'd love to see the same treatment for Bonanza.

The producers should not wait too long to do these commentaries, at least to cover the rest of the first 6 seasons. There is absolutely no reason to hold this project up, and in fact, every reason to speed it along.

Seasons 7-14 should have commentaries that will be just as insightful as the first 6 years.
