Subject: A Rose for Lotta

Hi Rick!

Questions:

In The Pilot Episode, In the opening scene where Ben and Adam are having a conversation on horse back...

Is that scene from the Wooded Clearing at Incline, along with the picture of the Lake?

And then, the last scene of the show as the 4 ride off out of Virginia City, is that from Incline as well?

As Rick has documented correctly, the location of all four on horseback is at Chavez Ravine. The footage of Northeast Lake Tahoe shoreline was filmed in July of that year and spliced and edited in various episodes.

When Ben says "Look at it Adam. Feast thine eyes on a sight that approacheth heaven itself." they are looking at what became Dodger Stadoium. No doubt that's what Walter O'Malley thought.

I'm so glad they toned Ben down after this episode! He wasn't the least bit likable, imo. :)

Yes. I understand. I think the "softer side" of Ben was at the request of Lorne Greene. (I think I read that somewhere)

I like what Lorne turned Ben into for the run of the series, but it is kinda fun to watch Ben's "rip-snortin'" zest for life in the episode.
