Subject: Some thoughts on Season 14

I remember most of the last season's shows, and have seen them from time to time on You Tube. I thought, if the "new" cast was given time to gel, there would have been some good things to come out of Season 14. Mike always had good chemistry with Canary, and David had good chemistry with Tim Matheson, almost like a father/son thing the way he looked out for him. I thought the early Season 14 episodes were pretty good, but starting with The Sounds of Sadness, I think there was a real drop off in "excitement" factor.Other than the Hunter, which I thougt was a great episode. But Sadness, Bucket Dog, First Love, Duffy, even the Witness, and I'm a Canary fan, dragged way too much. Not enough Mike in these episodes....he seemed to disappear a bit in the latter parts of the last Season. Even the episodes he shows up in, almost cameos in Blue Jeans, seems like maybe he wasn't caring much about what he was wearing when it was time for his scenes. Either way, there seemed to be a lot of promise in the first part of Season 14, I just never really thought it ended the same as it began. Any thoughts on Season 14, from those seeing the episodes for the first time in a long time?

I just watched 'Bucket Dog' and I loved it. Of course, I enjoy stories where animals are the main characters. The area where the trial is held outside looked a lot like the pond used in 'Little House.' I see this episode as an allegory about the Jewish Holocaust. The man who would rather kill the dog because it is inferior genetically is not unlike Hitler. The comic relief scenes where Jamie first brought the dog home help balance out the more serious aspects of the story.

I truly wish that BONANZA had a proper final episode.. It brings to mind what type of episode we would have seen if they had wriiten a finale... Would have been very interesting indeed.

I agree; would have been great t have Joe and Ben, explaining to Griff, and Jamie, who Adam was, and Griff Hoss. Flashbacks would have been great. What a shame that this great series eneded the way it did.

I just watched "Stallion" yesterday, and "The Sound of Sadness" this morning. I had never seen "Stallion." And it has been a long time since I remember seeing "The sound of Sadness" I enjoyed them both. I however am a self-described sentimentalist on this web-site. Yes season 14 had much potential. I'm sorry it was cut short.

Saw The Stallion for the 1st time and almost cried at the end. I fell in love with Bonanza after watching S4 where Adam accidently shot Little Joe. I thought: how come we can't have a Western like this on TV instead of all those horrible reality shows? What I didn't realize was there was 14 seasons LOL!

Imagine my shock when I discovered S14 doesn't have a proper ending. Its horrible what the network did, especially after they had received 14 years of work from such a dedicated, motivated, and inspirational cast. :(

Yes, what a shame there was no "final" episode. And I think they should have kept referring to Adam, even though he was gone. He was part of the reality, as it were. I was watching "The Last Vote" the other day, and Ben said, "Why couldn't I have had 2 daughters?" Rather jarring. Could he have not said "three daughters?" Would have not changed a thing in the episode.

Forever and The Bucket Dog are my favorite episodes from season 14.
