Subject: Song in the Dark - what was Adam thinking?

Adam went to William's house on the white horse singing Danny's song. William shot at him and Adam fell off the horse. I assume William missed and Adam just fell off pretending to be hurt.

Am I missing something or was Adam taking a huge risk that William's shot would be off target? William had previously shot at Danny and hit him in the arm.

I recall thinking the same thing after watching that scene. A little over the top, I'd say. They all took some incredible "leap of faith" chances throughout the seasons.
