Subject: Johnny Crawford (1946-2021)

Johnny Crawford, the actor, singer and musician best-known for playing Mark McCain in THE RIFLEMAN (1958-1963) has died at the age of 75.

Crawford began his career as a child actor and was one of Disney's original Mouseketeers in 1955. On television he appeared in episodes of The Lone Ranger, The Sheriff of Cochise, Have Gun - Will Travel, The Danny Thomas Show, Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok, Whirlybirds, Zane Grey Theatre, Wagon Train, Trackdown, Tales of Wells Fargo, The Donna Reed Show, Branded, Mister Ed, Rawhide, Lancer, Hawaii Five-O, The Big Valley and Little House on the Prairie.

Crawford's movie work includes appearances in The Space Children (1958), Village of the Giants (1965), The Restless Ones (1965), El Dorado (1967), The Naked Ape (1973) and The Marshal (2019).

In 1959 Crawford was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The Rifleman. He remained close friends with Rifleman star Chuck Connors (Lucas McCain on the show) and delivered a eulogy at Connors' funeral in 1992.
