Subject: Passings-William Windom

One of the best character actors, who is best remembered for his portrayal of the tormented Commodore Decker in the classic "Star Trek" episode "The Doomsday Machine" and with hundreds of TV and movie appearances has died at the age of 88. He also appeared in BONANZA's season 9 episode "Star Crossed" as Marshal Passmore.

A talented character actor, his performance in Star Trek's "The Doomsday Machine" is amazing.

He was in a couple of Twilight Zone episodes, as well as the Gunsmoke episode "The Judgement" in 1972.

He starred in the television series The Farmer's Daughter (1963-1966) with Inger Stevens, and My World and Welcome to It (1969-1970). He won an Emmy Award for the latter.

He was also a regular on the long-running series Murder She Wrote, playing the town doctor in fictional Cabot Cove, Maine.

My favorite Windom performances include The Twilight Zone "Five Characters in Search of an Exit" and the Star Trek "The Doomsday Machine".

One of my favorite character actors. He made everything he was in better.

I was a regular "Murder She Wrote" watcher where he played a kind of modern, New England version of Gunsmoke's Doc Adams, (Bones McCoy had some similarities as well). His work in The Doomsday Machine was ona Shakepearean level. I also remember him on "The Famer's Daughter" and as the scientist who finally gets Inspector Gerard to think Richard Kimble might just be innocent. Many, many others.
