Subject: Shooting location for "The Rattlesnake Brigade"

Rick had it right in the first place, identifying the location shoot for Season 13's "Rattlesnake Brigade" episode as Bell Location Ranch. Rick usually does get it right!

I've noticed that there's a lot of chatter online about the episode being shot at Spahn, which it turns out is incorrect.

An excellent blog entry has surfaced that puts the issue to rest, as a group of film location experts recently visited the site of the former Bell Ranch and matched up shots from the "Bonanza" episode. The entry appears on the Iverson Movie Ranch blog, and can be found at the url iversonmovieranch.blogspot.com.

I was curious why Rick changed his listings a while back, "correcting" his info to indicate that the episode was shot at Spahn. I figured the erroneous outcry for Spahn -- by people who were just so sure it was shot there -- convinced Rick to change his listings.

Hopefully he can now restore the original Bell Ranch page for the episode and update the listings accordingly.

Rick, you do a terrific job with ponderosascenery -- please keep up your great work.

Hi Al,

No- no one swayed me to change it. Both places are so close and I had a debate about it one day, so I changed it. BTW- I drove by Bell quite a bit in the late 80's. That will be changed later on. :)

I'm glad to hear it, Rick. Hey, your incredible location work has been a big help to me in my Iverson research for a few years now. If you email me I'll send you more details about the "controversy" over Bell vs. Spahn for "Rattlesnake Brigade."

Meanwhile, I also discovered Bell Ranch in the Season One episode "Blood on the Land." I can send you a screen shot. The Bell shoot includes a flock of sheep!

Bell Ranch has been a conundrum for film researchers for years, always hard to prove. I think the recent film history expedition there could go a long way to solving a few location mysteries. I know it's going to become a part of Star Trek lore too.
