Subject: The Younger Brothers Younger Brother

The Younger brothers gang (Strother Martin, Ted Gehring, Chuck McCann) are released from Grants Prison, setting into motion one of the funniest episodes of the series. The laughs include a heartfelt farewell to the gang by the warden (Ken Lynch), and the outlaws attempt at target practice using bottles on top of a fence.

Hoss gets mistaken as a member of the gang, becoming the "younger brother" of the title. The supporting cast does a superb job, especially Strother Martin as Cole Younger and Henry Jones as a less than stellar Sheriff. It is fun seeing Chuck McCann, who I remember as Tinker Jones from a Little House episode, play one of the bumbling badmen. Character actor Ted Gehring is another familiar face who contributes to the comedic proceedings.

All in all a delightful episode written and directed by Michael Landon.

Strother Martin Was A Great Actor , He Played in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.

He was also in True Grit.
