Maybe it was "The Prime of Life" episode, broadcast on December 29, 1963. It's the one where the Cartwrights are logging. An old man wants Pa to slow down, but he refuses. Later the old man walks under the wrong spot where a log is being hoisted in the air. It breaks & kills the old man. Pa had tried to save him in the process and was badly injured in his leg. That sent Pa into a depression where he refused to do any more work at the Ponderosa for quite awhile. He stayed in his red bathrobe. One of my favorites.
