Subject: Dan Blocker's Acting

I think Dan Blocker is underrated as an actor. His performance in "The Newcomers", "Feet of Clay", "The Courtship" (I could name many more) is superb. His laugh was infectious. I think Lorne Green was the next best actor. You really beleived he was "Pa." I love Pernell Roberts, but as he became dissatisfied with his role it showed, especially when he is in a minor role. It seems sometimes when he is in the background he doesn't quite keep in character, and you find him rolling his eyes. In "A Knight to Remember" you would think he would find that episode benath him, but he is clearly enjoying himself. Michael Landon had a few stock reactions in the beginning, but he grew and matured in the role. You could clearly see the bond between Blocker and Landon.

Regardless, all were great in their roles, with a lot of emotional depth that is not often found.

I love William Shatner. But in my opinion, Greene was the better actor. Shatner tended to chew up ALL the scenery in his youger years, and in one of his books he admits that. Shatner has a healthy ego, and a great sense of humor.

See the aforementioned "Rocket Man" and in his later years, "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has an opinion.

Did he say anything else about the Bonanza actors?
