The Lawmaker was a great episode, pitting Asa Moran against the whole Cartwright family, and especially Adam.

The Ride was another great episode, pitting Adam against everyone in town, including Sheriff Coffee. When Bill Enders' wife, Mary, accuses Adam of being inappropriate to stop Adam from accusing her husband, Coffee if forced to confront Adam. Mary Enders' Brooklyn accent was a somewhat funny to hear in a Western. Adam holds his ground to the end.

In Season 5's "No Less a Man," Adam backs Sheriff Coffee against the wishes of most of the town in protecting Virginia City against the outlaw Wagner Gang. Again, Adam doesn't back down against the odds.
