One of my favorite character actors. He made everything he was in better.

I was a regular "Murder She Wrote" watcher where he played a kind of modern, New England version of Gunsmoke's Doc Adams, (Bones McCoy had some similarities as well). His work in The Doomsday Machine was ona Shakepearean level. I also remember him on "The Famer's Daughter" and as the scientist who finally gets Inspector Gerard to think Richard Kimble might just be innocent. Many, many others.
