Subject: To Die in Darkness and David Canary interview

I recently saw "To Die in Darkness" for the first time, and thought it was a knockout, one of the best dramatic episodes of the series. James Whitmore gives a superb performance, as do Lorne Greene and David Canary.

David Canary refers to the episode in his 2004 Emmy TV Legends interview, mistakenly calling it "The Well" and stating that Candy and Ben were trapped in a well (instead of a mine shaft). Canary is very complimentary of Michael Landon's skills as a writer and director.

The interview has been mentioned at the forum before, but it's well worth taking a look at if you have not seen it. The lady conducting the interview could have been better prepared, and embarrassingly calls Candy's role "recurring" at one point. I got the impression that she is more of an All My Children fan than a Bonanza fan.

David Canary comes across as a real gentlemen, and seems to have fond memories of his Bonanza years.

Is it true that the Chilean miners got a TV feed for to watch old episodes of BONANZA so as not to make them go crazy down there? (;-) Hi Tim! Good to see that you're still in the Bonanza boat here on Lake Tahoe. -- Joe
