I like it here and you are all very nice. I have never had a place to share my stories so I'm glad I found you. Yes Bob was our driver for quite a long time. I have so many photos of him driving and photos of him partying down with my folks. It was fun watching all of them being so crazy with champagne fountains flowing and strange orange paper wrapped cigarettes (teehee) being passed around. They knew how to have fun. I remember Keenen Wynn (misspelled I'm sure) riding me around our big house on his shoulders and bumping my head on the door jam. I thought to myself put me down now please before you knock me out! I promptly went to my room and went to bed. At another party I remember Pernell was in our kitchen which was connected to a big dinning room and he was getting ready to pop a bottle of champagne. We had a long bar with bar stools with over head lighting that divided the kitchen from the dinning room. Well Pernell was standing in the kitchen with the bottle on the bar and popped that sucker and broke out all of the overhead lights above the bar. My mom screamed from the crashing glass noise and money started flying out of all the guys pockets from every direction. It was pretty funny to watch since I saw the whole thing coming. ; )

Those corks can be dangerous for sure. Years ago my cousin's boyfriend popped a cork which hit him in the eye. He spent prom night in the er-no serious damage thank goodness. She went to the prom with her Dad!! A night everyone remembers and still talks about. adamseve

This is very sweet to read. I just stumbled on this forum. I grew up with the show - I had to sneak downstairs to watch it from the stairs as it was on so late! But my dad won a color TV for a sales contest, and we had one of the first color sets in town - it lasted as long as Bonanza did! So we had to watch the shows in color. I was in love with Adam, and I was really upset when Pernell Roberts left the series. Much later, I understood his side better. "Bonanza" was from a different time. The first season seems to have been mostly based on not very good histories of Virginia City, notably the David Lyman books, and it wasn't until the second season that the show seemed to settle down. But the fifth season was the highest rated season, I think, and what we all understand when we say "Bonanza." And as a Guy Williams fan, that season is doubly wonderful for me, but I wonder if I'll ever see them on DVD. The only way to get season 5, I think, is to buy all the seasons from unofficial vendors. I'd rather have the official releases. Sigh! The series really didn't have anything to do with Virginia City's history in the end, or history at all, except Hollywood's history, but the characters were so very fine and the production values extraordinary. Just the music - like David Rose using Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream music as inspiration for "Hoss and the Leprechauns." Care was taken.
