Hi Rick!

Wow! Interesting that you should mention Lorne Greene’s ranch house in Mesa. Some years ago I heard something about that, and put my folks on a mission to find it. They lived in Mesa at the time. (They have since moved) Inquiry with some friends of theirs didn’t lead to the bonanza I was looking for. I forgot about it.

Just a few days ago, as I was surfing the web for the stills I posted you about, I ran across this website:

http://www.lornegreenesponderosa.com/

Apparently Lorne Greene’s place has new owners, and they are opening it up to Bonanza fans in February 2013, for a fifty year-old house warming party!

(I wonder if I can talk my wife into a trip to Mesa for that???)
Anyway. Check it out!

It is all good news that you passed along about the future seasons of Bonanza and the pictures. I will keep up to speed on your website. I’m really glad!

I learned of your website after my trip to the Ponderosa Nevada. (Again, just web surfing.) That is a little too bad for me, because NOW I am a more informed fan. If I had known then, what I know now, I would have taken more pictures while I was in the area. And of course now, The Ranch is closed.

As it happens, my wife is chaperoning during a trip down to South Lake Tahoe, for a basketball camp that our daughter is invited to in July. So once again my curiosity is peeked. I’m hoping she might be able to snap a picture or two for me on her way down. (I’m not sure yet)

Here are a couple of goofy questions. (Only if you don’t mind)

From Google maps: I found Bourne’s Meadow by google mapping Marla Bay. (satellite)

Did the boys ride for the open on the Lakeside, or the Mountain-side of Highway 50?

Also, for my own curiosity, where is the Ponderosa Wagon Camp? (The area with the building, off to the right of road 343???) I was there, and I’m not sure I have picked it out on the map. Can you help?

Again, I just google mapped Ponderosa Ranch, Nevada and found the Ranch house and guessed from there. (satellite)

Also, I can’t picture in my mind where the platform was that over-looked the front of the house.

I wish I could figure out how to post for you what I'm looking at. I can't. Sorry.

Anyway. I hope you don’t mind the questions. And I hope this posting is at least interesting, as it is long.

Enjoying season 1 and 2 now. Hoping for season 3 tomorrow.

Thanks so much

Gary McDonald

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the info on the house. The house-warming party sounds good! Let me list a few links that will help you wth the locations used. I have personally scouted and filmed all of them. They're all on the site. You should be able to find them with no problem.
