Dear New Hope friends and neighbors,

This is the rescue I am so proud to be with!
One of the things I do is once or twice a month I go to the Ewing NJ shelter (near Trenton) and I transport a beautiful, homeless dog to the PetSmart in Rt 1 in W. Winndsor, (just above the Quaker Bridge Mall) for adoption day with hopes that someone will fall in love with it and want to give it a loving, FURever home.

Some of our dogs and cats have also been placed in New Hope and Lambertville and so many more good homes are needed.

I also have fostered two beautiful dogs since November 2002. Steve and I are adopting our current foster. She is a 15 year old, 5 pound, apple head Chihuahua that I took from the Ewing NJ shelter when her elderly mom went into a nursing home. Older dogs are wonderful ... smart and trained and deserve to spend the rest of their lives living with dignity and love.

Please open your home to fostering a dog or cat if you are able. So many more homes are needed.

Pet Rescue of Mercer ( PRM )
http://www.petrescueofmercer.org/

We are an all volunteer, not-for-profit animal rescue group based in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, NJ. PRM rescues neglected abused and abandoned animals from local NJ shelters by finding quality homes for them.

Every eleven minutes an animal is euthanized in a municipal shelter in New Jersey. Since 1997 Pet Rescue of Mercer has been changing that in a variety of ways. PRM strongly believes that euthanasia, as a solution to the problem of pet overpopulation, is wrong. It is a simple and archaic response that has no place in a humane society.

Sadly, the animals that are being routinely destroyed in Mercer County and around the country are not just the neglected or abused strays. Tragically, pets are routinely abandoned when families move, when landlords forbid animals, if the pet has costly medical problems, or when they simply fall out of favor. These are the animals we all need to take responsibility for. If you are an animal
lover, put your love into action! Get Involved! Join Pet Rescue of Mercer. Contribute your time, money or expertise. Campaign for mandatory spay neuter laws. Become a voice for the voiceless!

Please visit us and meet many of our adoptable Dogs and Cats, every Saturday for Pet Adoption Days at the PetsMart on Route 1 South Princeton/West Windsor, NJ next to the Wal-Mart - 12 Noon - 3 PM
Volunteers are needed to help transport and handle our cats and dogs from local shelters.

Please be aware that we post animals on Petfinders for MUNICIPAL SHELTERS. THESE ARE NOT "NO KILL SHELTERS" !!! -These animals don't stay around long in most NJ shelters, so you need to act quickly.

* ADOPT!
...and tell your friends to do the same. Think first of animals that have been dumped in shelters because their owners got tired of them, or the new landlord won't accept pets, or the owners moved. Don't forget breed rescue groups. These groups specialize in fostering and
adopting pure bred animals. We at Pet Rescue sincerely thank you for considering saving a life rather than buying!

* PLEASE DO NOT SURRENDER YOUR PET!
PRM offers counseling on how to correct behavior problems so pet owners can keep their pets. Contact PRM about FYOP before you surrender your animal to a shelter. ! Remember, once an animal is in a shelter, his or her days are numbered. PRM also offers a "Foster Your Own Pet"(FYOP) program. This program is designed to help keep animals in homes rather than being dumped into a shelter.
Phone: 609.587.2423 FOR HELP or email us via our web site: http://www.petrescueofmercer.org/aboutus.asp

* VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
To help the homeless animals. Get Involved! Every "PRMer" is a volunteer. No one receives a salary or wage.
All of the money PRM receives is spent on saving animals.
Please join us! Click here for our Volunteer Application!
http://www.petrescueofmercer.org/volunteer.asp

* FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED!
Fostering means you temporarily house a dog or cat until a permanent home can be found. Fostering is an optimal way to save animals. Animals selected for fostering are those at the highest risk. Many are in imminent danger of euthanasia at a municipal shelter.
