Subject: Upcoming great show on May 28 at Odette's!

Hey everyone! Come to the Cabaret for a great show!

VOCAL TRIO, BOULEVARD EAST
RETURNS TO ODETTE’S IN NEW HOPE, PA
ONE NIGHT ONLY!

SATURDAY, MAY 28
Memorial Day Weekend!

Back By Popular Demand, Trio Reprises Show at Famed New Hope Nightspot one more time

For Immediate release – In 2004, the vocal trio Boulevard East celebrated the arrival of its first CD “Timeless,” with a series of appearances around the tri-state area. The trio returns to the famed Odette’s Cabaret in New Hope, PA on Saturday, May 28. The show, titled “The Best…” is a reprise of the show offered earlier this season, which highlighted the group's favorites from their varied repertoire. Showtime is at 8 pm, dinner is available and seating begins at 6 pm. A $17 cover charge applies with a $10 food or drink minimum. Reservations are strongly recommended, and may be made by calling Odette’s at (215) 862-3000. Odette’s is located at 274 South River Road (Route 32) in New Hope. Driving directions can be found at http://www.odettes.com

“We had such a terrific reception in February,” said music director and performer Christopher Howatt. “that we decided to come back with the same show, one last time before taking it to New York City this June at The Encore. Getting to reprise the show at Odette’s which over the past few years, has become our Cabaret home-away-from home, is an added bonus. We love coming here and are thrilled that Bob Egan continues to invite us back.”

The show, simply titled, “The Best…” highlights favorites of the three performers – Howatt, Beth Covell and Dana Merritt – chosen from their varied repertoire of classic standards from the 30’s and 40’s mixed with contemporary songs from theater and cabaret. Currently the trio's repertoire encompasses greats from Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Rodgers and Hart, Hoagy Carmichael as well as William Finn, Jason Robert Brown and others. What exactly will be on the bill for May 28th? “Probably a little of everything,” said Howatt, “come hear for yourself.”

The trio's first CD, “Timeless,” is based on their first show by the same name, and includes performances of songs by Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, George and Ira Gershwin and many others. It is available nationally in select Tower Records, and Barnes and Noble stores and other fine retailers, as well as online through the trio's website, www.boulevardeastproductions.com, or www.cdbaby.com. In addition, the CD will be available following the show at Odette’s.

Originally formed by Christopher Howatt and Dana Merritt as Eastern Standard Time, Boulevard East harkens back to a time when melodies were humable and lyrics were memorable, composed by such artists as the Gershwins, Hoagy Carmichael and Richard Rodgers, as well as celebrating outstanding contemporary songwriters from both the theatre and cabaret stages. Mr. Howatt serves as musical director, pianist and singer in the group. Joined by Ms. Merritt and soprano Beth Covell, they form the trio that performs those wonderful songs in “fabulous three-part harmony.” Since their successful debut at The Triad in January 1997, the trio has performed at various prestigious venues and affairs throughout the metropolitan area, including Don't Tell Mama, Judy's Chelsea, Mama Roses, Dillon’s, The Garrick Gaieties, Manhattan School of Music, the Dutch Treat Club, Tavern-on-the-Green, Helen's and Odette’s. As Eastern Standard Time, the trio was selected to appear at the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Tenth Anniversary Cabaret Convention at Town Hall, sharing the stage with such cabaret luminaries as Cybill Shepherd and Michael Feinstein, The trio has also been twice nominated in the Outstanding Vocal Group category for the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award. "The Best..." makes it NYC debut at The Encore on June 18, 25, & 28. Check our website for more details.

Thomas Stevens of Applause, Applause writes, “This is a vocal group with a great future in the entertainment world. They are just delightful!!”
