Ok you guys all of this bickering about alcohol is ridiculous. I can't believe that you two, who can agree on only ONE thing regarding this subject ---that alcohol shouldn't come in the way of running--- are letting it get in the way of your friendship. I know that you two live different lifestyles and that is fine but please just agree to disagree on this subject and quit wasting your time worrying about other people who are probably going to do whatever they want whether you approve or not. Andy, I can definitely understand your point of view. I never had more than a sip to drink (from my parent's glass I might add) until the end of my freshman year of college. I used to wonder why people thought they had to have alcohol to have a good time and after 2 years of college I still wonder the same thing. There are people who have serious problems with alcohol and there are people who occasionally like to drink a little to let loose. Please believe me that I know the difference. But also understand (and I'm speaking for myself and the girls on my team) that we have set our priorities in life and drinking is not on the list. It is very obvious if you stop for just a second and consider the huge amount of time that we have invested in schoolwork, running, and our friends. We know that drinking can effect all of that and that is why we choose not to let it. I would also like to add that among our team there are people who don't drink and that has not effected how anyone looks at them. Neither myself nor anyone else on this team is interested in pressuring anyone into anything. Alice drinks sometimes and she is a hell of a lot better runner than I ever was in high school- or ever will be for that matter. So to think that the key to success in life or running is abstention from alcohol is making things way to simple. I'm sorry if I'm being preachy here but I just want you to know where things stand. Oh, and about the frat parties that started this whole thing, the only reason we go is to go dancing, not to get on some guy who, YES, may just be interested in some sort of one night stand. And Nick, I know that you don't agree with what Andy is saying here or the fact that he is saying anything at all but its not doing either of you any good to fight because you're both as stubborn as hell. On a final note I would like to say that the only reason anyone ever asks you to come to parties, Andy, is that we're your friends and people like to hang out with their friends.
Please let this be the end of this conversation.
