One school of thought is that JT was just checking to be sure it was really Janet and not Michael.

But the inestimable Catweasel (Trust me, I'm a doctor) has certainly come up with a more likely explanation when he said:
It's obvious what's going on here. Timberlake is announcing to the world, "Hey, I may have a tiny dick, but see what I get to play with!!!"
