this matter made me wonder about the biblical story of Joshua, and the walls of Jericho.

Maybe he was bending down to do up his sandals, when, with one mighty petard, he blew the walls down. The surviving Jericoites, were probably too embarassed to tell anyone the truth. So they invented that cock and bull story about the trumpet.
