We are used to 'Shut up' rather than 'shut down' and now that Americanism 'Listen Up' has replaced our very simple 'Listen'

To hear now requires a direction ... up!

Americans are excellent with pronouns of direction and place...make over, make up, go down [now that phrase has 147 different meanings], move over, shove off, and so on...

But our precious 'piss off' is being eroded by that Americanism 'piss'... in other words, we used to say...'I' pissed off' [upset]... but Americans say 'I'm pissed'... which in Oz means I am drunk. But sooner or later we will change to the American...as always, slaves to the Coca Colonialism of the Great Satan [sic]...
