Subject: Minestorm II

What's this? Minestorm II turned out to be nothing more than a perpetual repetition of the first four minefields from the original Minestorm! No cool combinations of both magnetic and fireball mines in minefield 5...And above all, no dot mines or other really freaky stuff after you have passed minefield 13!.....
Is this really happening?
Is this the way it's supposed to be?...or have I somehow come by a strange and bugged .bin of Minestorm II...(I'm running DVE2.0)

It really shouldn't have been called Minestorm II since it's not actually a sequel. Since the original wasn't designed to go beyond level 13, by popular demand Minestorm II was mainly designed as a fixed version that never ends. DVE plays it fine.

What a sad story!
I had been hoping to finnaly beat the invisible mines of minefield 32 by using the DVE's save feature. :)

I have also learned why Minestorm sometimes jumps back to the player select screen when you pass level 13 or beyond, as you probably know, it comes from pressing a button after the last mine was destroyed. (Very easily done in the more panicy levels)....So I thougth I would beat the bug by making sure I DID NOT press anything at minefield-end...
But the DVE crashes when entering minefield 15.

Unfortenately, I traded my real Vectrex for a 1541 Diskdrive for my Commodore 64 in 1990...So I can't put my new knowledge of the level 13 bug to use on a real Vectrex... :(

Minestorm definetly was a better version of Asteroids than Asteroids ever was...or will be. :)

End of Minestorm story....

DVE may have the save feature, but the real Vectrex also has a trick up it's sleeve. If you turn the brightness knob all the way up then you actually get to 'see' the invisible mines. If MESS keeps time with the MAME features like it should, then in it's next release it should have a 'joystick input record' feature so that entire games can be recorded and played back by anyone...
