Hmmm, sounds like something to add to the Vec FAQ v.5.0...

Potentiometers are known to "weld" themselves in one spot due to to rest of the potentiometer oxidizing and getting crusty. Then when you break them free, the oxidation is so bad that it does not make contact.

Interesting fix BVZ.
