Well, as much as people here liked the scene in Hell's Bells, it worried me because I felt she did throw him some crumbs. Yes, she said it didn't change anything - but she also let him know that she was hurt that he was with something else.

Maybe it's just me, but if someone first told me that they didn't love me yet acknowledged being hurt at seeing me with another person, I'm going "ding ding ding" - maybe you DO have feelings for me after all. And that's my problem with the scene, it seems to me like she's still sending him mixed signals.

BTW, aside from the physical abuse issue, I think one of the things that disturbs me the most this season has been the whole "Buffy saying no but not meaning it" running storyline. Since we now have some spoilers on the consequences of that, I feel more justified in being upset at ME's decision to use that as a plot point.
