This is a film that is not easy to categorize. You either love or hate it. You need to figure that out yourself.

The title character, Darkly Noon, played by Brendan Fraser, flees from an ultra-strict religious community and is found passed out on a dirt road in the backwoods. Ashley Judd's character looks after him, lets him stay on her property and he begins to feel a sinful sexual attraction to her. Viggo Mortensen plays Judd's lover. Darkly comes to believe that he has to punish the two sinners.

There's lots to chew on. The film can be seen as allegory, a psychological thriller, a critique of religious attitudes to sex...

What makes this a must see for a Viggo fan is his character is mute. Viggo's entire performance is gesture and body language - oh, and love scenes with Ashley Judd.
