It may not be easy to get your hands on this movie at a rental store - my copy comes with the label Avant Garde
Cinema, so, it may not be kept in chain video stores. Buy it if you want to see a great performance by Viggo Mortensen. It's worth every penny.

The film was written and directed by Sean Penn based on Bruce Springsteen's song, Highway Patrolman. David
Morse is a sheriff in a small town. Viggo plays his brother who is troubled and can't seem to avoid getting in
trouble. The story is intense and painful. It is an emotional study of responsibility versus rebellion.

Most actors turned directors seem to produce movies which have fascinating characters in them. This is no
exception and the most fascinating character is the one played by Viggo. His character is at war with himself and
society and yet has a deep bond with his brother, who tries to help him. The role gives scope for a huge range of
emotion which Viggo fulfills with intensity.

This was released in 1991 and was the first major role for Viggo. He needs to be offered more roles like this.
Aragorn is a great role but this one really displays his talent.
