Subject: All Scales = Chords:-)
In reply to: Palmy Joe 's message, "augmented scale" on 13:44:42 04/17/02 Wed

Hi

Here are some links to the augmented scale:

http://www.geocities.com/chero12kee/augmented.html
http://members.tripod.com/~johncomino/augmntsc.htm
http://members.tripod.com/~johncomino/augpatt.htm

BUT: Why learn all those scales, sclaes, scales? There are literally HUNDREDS of scales, but Only 12 Different Notes on our instruments! So i'd like to suggest a different point of view:
Learn to think in CHORDS, not in scales. For example that 'augmented scale' can simply be seen as TWO AUGMENTED CHORDS that are put together to one scale.

Example for the 'augmented Scale' in C:

C, Eb, E, G, G#, B

That are actually the C+ Chord(C,E,G#) and the Eb+ Chord(Eb,G,B) put together, that's it!

If wanna learn more about getting FREE from all those scale beasts and how to ease your improvising & comping technique, then come and visit http://www.dr.riddim.de.vu

...and you will get a totally different viewpoint on scales, comping etc!

Cheers,

Zigi
