The old system of forge worked well enough, though the new one shows a lot more promise. I've had a couple of merchant characters and I've never had a problem with it taking longer then it should, since its based off your skill levels from what I can tell.

First of all, that battle mask is one of the most difficult things to forge in the game. Second, if you have less then a hundred hours play time on your character and you have not been powergaming, its going to take you a very long time to complete. Even with my near-maxed merchant of days gone by, whom had about four hundred hours play time, it took about thirty 'forges' to create one of those.

The new system also seems to allow all kinds of items to be added as they come, where as the old system of slowly building up to something suggests it would be a pain in the ass to add anything new.

The old system is still in place if you prefer that, just don't go ripping on the new one, alright?
