Yes we've tried the pardon thing.

The reason this IS a bug is due to the fact the character was assisting a guard in dealing with a creature. I have no idea how that is to be role-played around and it more or less leaves that character completely screwed over for very long time.

So what do you tell the player? Or their character for that matter? Sorry, I guess that rabid creature you assisted in taking down was someones pet or something, and someone needed to take the fall, so you're banished from the realm for all time.

Its a problem, the kind of problem that is going to chase newbies away from the game like the plague (which is actually in game, and still less scary then this new criminal code issue).

Plus, you don't have to deal with two dozen ICQ messages from newbie players EVERY TWENTY MINUITS asking me 'is it fixed yet? is it fixed yet?'... !!!

So if for no one elses sake but my own tweak it down a little so its seen as a feature of the game, and not anti-newbie warfare.
