yeah, that's happened to me before, too. when you pick your class you make a decision on what sort of skills your character will be most suited to learning. that doesn't mean that he can't learn skills outside his class, but it does mean that it is going to be much more difficult to learn that skill. in fact, for some skills it is so difficult to learn them to any degree of effectiveness if you are not the proper class that it might as well be impossible to learn it at all. i haven't played many thieves myself, but it seems common sense that you should be able to learn to climb reasonably easily. also, xanthippe is right in what she said about command spamming. i'm not saying that you're doing this, but new players are notorious for doing that to try and increase their skills. a little every day is not only better for gameplay since nobody likes to see other characters acting unrealistically, but the code is set up so that you will not be rewarded for spamming a skill. my greatest advice to you to make a great pc is to SURVIVE. the more people you meet and rp with the more you will enjoy your time in 4L, and as your character grows older the skills and the associated power will come naturally. watch out for bandits and leopards. find someone to work for; just because you're a thief doesn't mean you've got to make (all of) your money by stealing from others. thief skills can be marketable! anyhow, it's 4:30 am which probably has a lot to do with how long this has become, so i'll stop
