As a coder it is hard for me to think in terms of a codebase I don't know much about. I generally know what my codebase can do, but I would guess that Elwar's code is vastly different...and it's probably a safe bet he doesn;t want to pop the hood for me *G*

It seems like just another thing to store in a table in memory, write to a file when it changes, read in at bootup... Store an identifier to a player, the key number and lock location.

[ After further thought (read on) just a list of keys would be required, maybe this can be done on the fly without keeping a separate list, depends on the implementation ]

Every so often, again maybe at boot time, or every hour or so... Set a time, 3 months? 6 months? and if that player has been inactive, or is dead, change the lock... In this case it might be worthwhile having each key/lock set also have an owner, and a then have a set of commands for transferring ownership. The next issue is the objects within a house... maybe link all the rooms in a house or property to a specific key and clear the rooms when changing ownership?

Or maybe we just have to remain resigned to carrying our lives on our backs?
