It's still a few years till our next reunion, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to start talking about how to make our next one better and attract more people. If you have some ideas, or just want to have an excuse to get out and socialize, come meet for an Essex alumni get-together.

WHERE: LINCOLN INN at Essex 5 corners
WHEN: between 6-8pm
WHO: anyone who is interested in helping organize,
or even just talk about future alumni events

Anybody interested in the prospect of combining some years for wider appeal?

If you think you might come, drop us a reply here, or send me an e-mail so I can get an idea how many tables we might need to reserve...

I'll bring my wife Kathy in case nobody else shows. If anyone else comes, I'll be the slightly balding guy with the sign around my neck that says "where's George?"

Hi Tim, Have fun at the Lincoln Inn and please say hi to Stavros for me (it's kind of a family joke: he's this friendly guy who works there and he helped us out with the memorial service receptions held at the L. Inn when each of our parents died in the past two years, now whenever I am in town and go in there, he's there working again and tries to remember how he knows me--thus, my sister, cousins, everyone in our family always says "Say hi to Stavros for me!" whenever any of us is headed to Vermont and more specifically to the Lincoln Inn)...anyway, I think it's a great meeting place.
Obviously I can't hop a plane and come join you, but please remember I'm up for helping with whatever needs to be done, website or otherwise. I like the multi-year idea for the website as well as the idea of an EJHS multi-year reunion sometime.

Guys

I just got my itinerary for Friday. I will be in Brattleboro at 2:30 PM. Not sure how long, but I'm guessing it will take an hour. After that, back to Burlington!

So with luck I should be in Essex around 6 PM or so. The bad news is that I may be a little late, hard to tell. If someone has a cell phone I will call to let you know exactly when I'll be arriving at the Lincoln Inn!!

:-)

Tim, give Roy a call. He doesn't have school Thursday or Friday. He and I can play pool while you sort it all out.

kathy and I are still planning to be there around 6 for dinner. We'll hold a place for george. It takes about 3 hours to get there from Brattleboro, so I don't expect him till 7; we'll wait and have our pie till then. Hope the goose hunting goes well for you guys down in Addison! I'd love to see those snow geese sometime!

well that was fun! George arrived just after six, and after a long day of driving down to Brattleboro and back. Jon and Marianne Nealy joined us shortly later and we all had a very good meal. I kept checking out the lounge to see if anyone else showed up. I saw a number of familiar looking faces and got some weird looks, but no one came up to me or asked me about the sign.

I did see Carter Biddle and Eric Nealy that night also. Carter gave enthusiastic approval for a multi-year alumni thing.

I'd really like to start moving on this, but I haven't got the foggiest idea what the best way to get it started would be. One idea is to just start an annual event; then over the course of a few years see if we can build up some interest. We could keep adding to the e-addresses and give people plenty of notice...

There were not too many geese down in Addison. Some snows and a few Canadians which you could shoot starting Saturday. Lots of ducks, though, so most of the time was spent going for them. Took a total of 21 Teal, which are not very big, but very tasty. The camp out was great! and that's the most important part.

Guys

I thought I should say a few things. First it was really good to see Tim and Jon again after so many years. That day was a very emotional day for me and the guys were very supportive.

That week I did a number of "mitvahs" (good deeds) for my brother Mike. I was successful in bringing him to the dentist for the first time in 20 years. Jon gave me a referral to Dr. Hibbs and Mike has an appointment there on Friday.

We also talked about fun things. I've been very active in Baseball Mogul Online. This is a fantasy baseball game where you are the General Manager. I just love this game and have gotten severely addicted to it!

Like I say, it was good seeing my friends from High School once again. I will definitely make a point of coming to our 30th reunion (!).

:-)

George
