We seem to have hit another slow spell here at the website...Perhaps we can get things going again by talking about the weather??

This morning it was the coldest temperature so far (-12 degrees) here in Montpelier. I'm thankful for my heated garage!

I hope everyone is having a tolerable mid-winter, especially you Roy! Mr. Bishop broke his shoulder snowboarding a few weeks back. I hope his students are being nice to him...

Dan and I skied Friday - wind chill was 25 below at Smuggs. Without a face mask and helmet, I would not have been able to tolerate it. Conditions otherwise were good!

Sounds like Vermont and Minnesota have had identical weather lately. Very very cold, with intense windchills. There have been something like 10 deaths already this winter due to people driving or falling through ice. MN is the Land of 10,000 Lakes...people think nothing of driving their cars out onto the lake, but not all lakes freeze consistently all the way across! Duh... it's always a tragedy, but my question is, Why drive on the ice?

This past week a couple of high school kids in the suburbs lost their lives that way. Their car apparently went through the ice, late at night; the boy died in the car and the girl made it out and died while trying to cross the lake, the temps. were way below zero and she just froze. Really a sad story. It so reminded me of Dave and Kim, two well liked, talented kids, such a sudden loss. The whole community is grieving.

Sorry so depressing. Guess that's the downside of winter. It really is hazardous and you have to use your brain if you want to live in a climate like this!

Not too different here in Atlanta, the weather is much colder that everybody is used to. We do not have the winters of MN and VT, but single digit temps seem to expose the worst in our building construction.

The following site is a web cam view from Georgia's highest peak. Brass Town Bald gets snow every year and is easily 20 degrees cooler than Atlanta in teh summertime.

Aloha... Boy, do I hate to tell you this, but it was the coolest here in a long time, or so the locals tell me - it got to 67 the other night. I can laugh when I stop to get coffee in the morning in my short sleeve uniform shirt (no jacket) and see the local people here bundled in heavy jackets or sweatshirts, pants and all sorts of stuff. It's crazy, but all in all, I am getting quite used to the pretty pleasant weather all year round. Hope the weather in New England has a early exit and your spring arrives earlier than normal... Aloha

Hey! Great message board! It even tells you what you need to put in the boxes (ie. "(required)" and "(optional").

Weather!? We're looking at possible -25 on 2/13 & 14. Think I'll move into Tim's garage!! We're actually having problems with our propane tank (propane fp =/~ -60F I think)! So cold we can't get good gas pressure to upper stories of the house!

Man Robin! I hope an iceberg comes down and hits your Kilaue!! (spelling? Ha! Ha!)

And I have to admit, I'm also jealous of the southerners here "on the continent"! Tim had +1F in E. Montpelier! Time to mow the lawn!!

Johnq (Morris)

PS: Robin MADE me put that "q" there!

ok folks!

where did everyone go? it's now less then 8 months till the summer of 2006. are people planning on coming to vermont this year? should we try to have a reunion, i mean a party? who should we invite? who are we? is anybody out there?

from this thread alone, i count two morris's (or is that morris'?) from two different coasts, a green from georgia and a rooney, who used to be a moreau.

where are all the alumni? is there another site, besides boysweekend.com that has essex alumni talking?

the weather here in montpelier is rainy, but still seasonal today. it's early october; leaf peepers everywhere. hopin' for some good weather to help the local economy. what about where you are?
