Subject: Does anyone remember the Jim Croce concert ?

Does anyone remember in September of 1973, waiting for the Jim Croce concert? We were in the auditorium waiting for him to arrive for an unscheduled stop at one of the colleges in Burlington, then was coming to our school, when the principal (or someone), came in and told us Jim's plane had crashed and everyone had died? I know I didn't imagine this, yet no one seems to remember.
I was one of the ones that was sent to Colchester High School for my senior year. Personally, I did not care for it. All of my friends were at EJHS.
I have 10 children. A single birth, septuplets who passed away at birth and twins, with one of them passing away also at birth. My oldest son being 19, and in college at VTC in Randolph Center and my youngest son 16, who is in 10th grade. We live in St. Albans. I owned my own business for 30 years, then decided to teach grade school in kindergarten, 1st., 2nd., 5th., and 6th. I like to sketch people and have published my own book. I also enjoy singing, and public singing, and I write poetry. Guess you could say I've been busy all my adult life!

thanks for posting your message Cathy!

I'm surprised no one has chimed in to confirm your story about Jim. Of course there are fewer and fewer of us who even remember Jim Croce at all!

I came to EJHS as a freshman the year you left. As I'm writing this, I can't remember where the high school was before it was where it is now? Can anybody answer that?

VTC is a great school. It changed my life dramatically! Even though I have changed careers since then, it provided so much of what was missing from my 4 years at EJHS. My mom worked for the State College System so I only had to pay room and board. Later in life I got my bachelor's degree and was able to transfer every credit earned from VTC.

Thanks again for taking the chance and posting your message. Still hoping this site over time can be a good way to stay in touch with Essex folk. C'mon, it's somebody else's turn to share!
