I am not a member of LDMA but went to meet old friends.
As such I did not go over to the common operation but I
did hear stray comments about the road being dug. I assume it has or will has been repaired.

The common operation brings many participants together in a sharing example. It is not the gold but being a participant.

I have been going into this broad area since early 1962. At
this time there was very little activity anywhere. Only a
little drywashing in the "Summit Range" area about a mile (or a mile and a half) down the road.

The drywashers were either the red-painted Beck or the silver-painted Nick's Nugget. I still have two Nick's Nuggets in my garage, last used about 1980. They are gathering rust and dust and I should get rid of them as well as my small "GoldDiver" dredge last used in the middle
1970's when dredge permits were free and then went to $5.00

The early 1980's were the heyday for detecting. The gold was shallow and some even sighted. At this time a VLF-TR coinshooter such as a White's 5000 Series/2 was very capable.

However, gold still can be found.
