Gosh Randy and Jerry--- where are you guys getting such
energy????. (Randy--- it was a Model "T", either a 26 or 27.) I supplied a headgasket for it.

At one time I tried to corner the Model "T" market and have at one time or another had a '14, '15, ,23, '25, '26 and enough extra parts to build several more. I still have a few parts and the complete '15 in my garage.

The 14 is a racer/speedster. I sold it last year and it is now on display in Texas. It was capable of 80 plus MPH and
very dangerous. About 20 years ago on a California 500 run I was racing east between on #58 between Mojave and Boron, the wind strong from the north and it took me several miles to slowly pass a 18-wheeler also heading east. I was in Warford-direct and pulling 3000 Rpm; well into the
"redline" and the center main was not getting lubricant. Stupid, it was also taking me the entire road in the wind and K.L. Kassai was my riding mechanic and kept telling me to drop the RPM but the center main held.

I once did a lot of vintage racing and belonged to VARA, (vintage auto racing association.) The '23 is also a race car. It is now in England. Also the '26. I have spun the '14 three times; always 180 degrees to the left. Only the 14 and 23 are racer/speedsters.

I built the 14 from parts. I was able to get bits and pieces from earlier dirt track race cars. The suicide front end was made and used on a pre-WW-1 race car. Manganese-bronze.

Actually I got into teaching prospecting classes to support my vintage hobby. In 1974 I actually raced at Calistoga California. 5/8-mile unbanked dirt track. 10-laps. No safety equipment, white coveralls, goggles, cap. The event was stopped several times to clean up debris. Initially the track was wet to keep down the dust. Then as it dryed there were narrow tire ruts. Tires were 33x3.5 The wooden spoke wheels would fly apart if you got in a rut. I bent the tye-rod, but otherwise okay.

Finished, but near the back of the pack of those that completed. 23 starters and about 5 wrecked. No-one hurt. This was the last one held. Insurance and etc. It was a big event. The stands were full and spectators lined up all along the track outside the fence.

It was billed as an reactment of an old time Model T dirt track race as held over the 4th of July back in the 1920-30 era. Oh yes, I got $60 as my share of the purse.

The '15 has been setting garage for about 10 years. Cats an O'possoms have made it their home. It is a 1915 Touring. The motor is a '26 with Aluminum head, Egge race pistons, rods, cam, and "A" shaft. Warford, Ruxtell.
