Howdy Jim---

Info; Larry has written a new book. Sue is sending me a copy. Also, I thank you for your support at the meeting. I sorta bombed out; the circle was large and I could not hear. Ed was supposed to be the program but--- You kept me afloat--- I appreciate it. You are most knowledgeable and
understanding.

Jim--- you are correct about placer. My question is about hardrock--- overlooked "precious metal" pockets, not a "patch." (i.e., My grandfather used to refer to the vein as "pockety,") within a possible simple-fissure vein. Is it now becoming a lost art? My first aquaintence with a pocket
was with Garry Eden at the old Relief mine--- blacksmith level. He was using a White's made about 1957-60. Got a reading which was actually "iron." However after a couple of rounds it opened up to a "serious amount" of old-time electrum as originally found back in the 1870's. (Just dumbluck as the ribs had been longholed w/o discovery. I even was using a 25-ft tape trying to snake out any of the cuttings.) At the time (about 1960)I was more interested in a 42-inch vein of scheelite, not the silver. Altough the subsidy was no longer, it could have still paid. Garry was myopically into the silver.

However, I'm wandering off the subject. To put my cards on the table: I'm curious if anyone has recently found small clear quartz crystals with included gold? Not asking where or any secrets.

The forum is slow and this may stimulate good information.
