Yep, pretty sure it's the same guy. He went by the name of "Okie Jim" and he's been the principal owner of the Keystone mine for about 10 years. Keystone is just a few miles north of Tungsten. The Keystone placers were "rediscovered" soon after the first Minelab SD machines came out as a very good place to nugget hunt with detectors. Jim was one of the first to see the possibilities of the area and claimed it all up.

"Little Bill" was never a partner that I know of, but did help out with Cat work occasionally. He's still up in that area working for whomever will buy him beer. Jims principal partner in the mine is still at it, moving dirt with a Cat, detecting it for big nuggets, and then washing the rest. There have been many multi-ounce nuggets taken from there in past few years. And no, they do not allow casual hunters, even for a fee. They had some real problems in the past and have had to get tough.

I don't know the circumstances of his death but I'm sure someone on the other forums do. It happened last winter and was rather sudden so I suspect a heart attack. There were some messages on some of the forums announcing it last year so you might find something in the archives. Many people knew him better than I did.
