Thanks for your information... I agree. Old detonating caps
and ammunition can remain dangerous indfinitly... I believe
an old dynamite blasting cap can be "hot" even after many
years in the ground. Back when I was working at the crusher
in McGill (around 1954) old underground mine workings dating
back to the 1900's were being recovered by open pit mining
and one of the bull gang laborers who knew no better was able to recover several and not knowing better pounded on one and was legally blinded;(this happened just a few earlier, before I was working in the crusher at McGill). There was sometimes a lot if interesting stuff to be seen
with the ore on the moving conveyor belts...

About old ammunition, WW-1 30-06 dating back to 1917 were being used by deer hunters in Ely Nevada during the early
1940's... a large bag was found while cleaning out an old garage. No problem...
