Howdy Charles,

I do not sell detectors. For your needs I recommend a "general purpose" machine with gold detecting attributes. Do not rush out to buy the first one, but look the field over. Several manufacturers sell quality "General Purpose" machines within your price range.

To become successful and not put the detector in a closet after using it a few times, I highly recommend to join a local club, contact detector manufacturers for literature, subscribe to magazines (and their webpages) such as LT, W&E, ICMJ, and GPAA's GP magazine. Also check out the various forums, such as this one.

Bench/air test the machine and completely learn it, Use no "preset settings" before you go after the gold. It is not by accident that 5% of the gold prospectors find 95% of the gold.

Also, remember prospectors are like fishermen, they use different weights and measurements.I'm of a 4-thgeneration
mining family and my grandpa could really generate great interest. I find that "gold" comes in many forms; sometimes it is the search and comradship that is the "real" gold.
