Both are fine machines. For most coin and jewelry hunting situations they are about equal. The Elite might have a very slight depth advantage (in some soils) on high conductivity stuff (i.e. silver dimes, etc) but the MXT does a slightly better job on low conductivity stuff, i.e. nickels and gold jewelry. As far as nugget hunting is concerned, the MXT is the better of the two. (Much better) Hope this helps; HH Jim (WWW.GOLDHUNTER.COM)
