Hi guys, the first detectors he in Oz that I remember were the garret deepseeker TR and the White's 5000. I am stretching my memory a little but I think the Garret's were here in 1974. I do know the guy that got the very first Garret here in the west, his name is Mark Creasy. From memory his first bit was a fifty odd ounce bit from Mt. Magnet. I started in 77 and the first rush with detectors was well and truly over by then. It's funny looking back now and remembering how everybody said I was to late all the gold was gone. Any way my first detector was a manual deepseeker you know the ones where you had to use the TR switch all the time. It was an exciting time here every week there would be something in the paper about some huge nugget being found with these new fangled machines. Take care all.
