I cannot speak for the 18000. The 17000 seems to do well in 32kHz and maybe the 18000 would do better in 20 rather than the 60 kHz?

However, my opinion is limited to the standard 8-inch circular DD that came with the 17000 machine about 8-years ago. I did use the 18000 when Jack Leuf was testing it for W&E Treasures and felt the 20kHz a good choice, but I have always felt the 13.77 Compass Gold Scanner to 19.2 Fisher Gold Bug-1 as good frequencies and have found them both good choices. Then I settled on the LST; which the more I use, the more I understand it.

I have kept track of my finds. With the higher frequency VLF-type (actually LF) I have found "numerous" small gold. However, I must say the frequencies from 4.5 to 19.2 (but including the 17000 in 32) have been better for me. (1984 was my worst year; I only found one nugget; with the Compass GSP, it was on the easterly slope of the PCSC Red Chispa in the EL Paso range north of Randsburg and was only 7.4 pennyweights.)

Recently, I bought a smaller accessory circular 6-inch DD coil, originally for the 18000, but it works "surprisingly well" with the 17000 in 32kHz. I am curious as how the 15-inch WOT will perform. I think it will boot up to either 17000 or 18000. I'm looking for "more depth" than either the well-known VLF-types (50-70 khz) even while hooked up with the 14-inch accessory elliptical concentrics in the areas of lighter mineralization where a VLF can outperform a PI.

Like a dry-fly fisherman; using only the lightest weight leader and the most expensive flies; while looking for a trophy native trout in a high mountain stream; I'm doing likewise; my goal is a trophy nugget. Whatever coil or machine combination is fine with me.
