While a well refined and developed older technology may still be initially better than a newer technology trying to replace the older technology; eventually the newer technology will prevail. This is like comparing apples with oranges. But comparing products having the same technological parameters is "iffy." As each technology reaches its saturated level, refinements become minor. This is like comparing an apple against another apple. At this point a new technology should be developed.

But getting back to metal detecting; as long as you are super successful with whatever you are using; why consider switching? We are now getting back to Ralphs "one gun." Up the frequency, down the frequency; big coil, little coil.
Stick to one machine that seems to best fit your hand and pocketbook, learn it, use it, research and find a good area to detect. Always remember silence is GOLDen; so don't show your poke, but you can smile faintly when no one is looking.
