Hi Ralph,

I have also noticed when testing the MXT on gold jewelry items that the Disc mode gives a very strong signal out to within an inch or so of the maximum detection range. I like this! Most of my hunting is on fresh water beaches and this is a great advantage over previous VLF machines that I have used.

Got a question for you. When testing the MXT with various coil sizes I have seen that there is very little difference in the distance that a small object can be seen with the big coil vs a small coil and vice versa the small coils see the largest rings to almost the same distance that the big coil does. No other machine I have tested is capable of doing this. Have you done similar tests with the X5?

The only disadvantage I can see on the MXT for coin hunting where it is hampered by its sensitivity is in trashy areas where there are large rusty can lids and the like. It just will not see coins as well in this situation as a dedicated coin machine will do. A friend is getting an X5 to use as a coin machine. Do you feel that the same may be true with it?

Thanks

Tom
