I must agree with Steve; when it comes to detecting MINUTE stuff, smaller coils can usually do so deeper than the regular-size coils. For instance, testing the Hot Foot verses the standard DD coil on my GMT, I found that the Hot Foot got about 85% of the depth of the DD on 1 dwt pieces, about 95% as much depth on a 4.5 grain piece, yet the Hot Foot got a MUCH stronger signal on sub-grainers than did the regular DD. Small coils just "see" little targets better.
