John, I use a GMT, fitted with either the Hot Foot or the Hot Shot. Compared to the stock DD coil, the Hot Foot gets about 90% as much depth on larger targets as does the standard DD. However, the Hot Foot gives a MUCH stronger signal on sub-grain nuggets than does the DD; although I didn't do any depth comparison tests on sub-grainers, I feel that the Hot Foot does a much better job finding them than does the DD. The real advantage, of course, is the Hot Foot's ability to be used in "crowded" conditions. It is much lighter than the stock DD, so it is a joy to swing. As regards the Hot Shot, I find that it gets sub-grainers with no problem, and compared to the stock DD the Hot Shot gets about 30% more depth on 1 grainers, and 37% more depth on 1 dwt'ers, than does the stock DD, tested in-ground, at the same settings. I use the Hot Foot for general use, and the Hot Shot in those areas where I suspect "big 'uns" lurk. I have had very good success in the El Pasos, Rand Mtns, Stringer District, etc. Hope this helps. HH Jim
