Subject: Good Points.....

I just still have problems warming up to the idea of a silent-search / auto-tracking gold detector. I've experienced too much small iron that reads just like nuggets, and visa-versa, depending on the underlying matrix, and such a machine may or may not be tracking or "ID-ing" out both. You just have no way of knowing. But I see your point that Fisher may be targeting the beginner prospector market for this particular machine, as long as 1) The user never knows what he is missing (he won't), and 2) He doesn't get frustrated with the machine telling him "everything" is gold.

But, like most "new" gold machines, this one may take awhile to warm up to or prove itself...... if it is able. "New, improved, and different" don't seem to be as appealing to the nuggetshooter camp as they do to the coinshooter, and I think we tend to scrutinize new entries alot more carefully than perhaps others do. Just part of our nature I suppose...... the "no-nonsense" approach to new toys. After all, driving to the local park for a couple hours coinshooting is alot different than packing in several miles to a remote patch, just to find something isn't working quite right. That "aw-shit" factor is a little more serious in the later....... (grin)
