Subject: Why Johnny can't read

This is a true story;one of the many that happen at those mysterious places called elementary schools.
The other day the teacher across the hall burst into my classroom, holding a book. It was a Beverly Cleary book that happened to be written in Spanish. The child who checked it out got back to the room before he looked at the book. His comment..."I can't read this!"
Now we know why Johnny can't read.

Another little quip. We had just started double digit division. One of my students was sitting quietly, doing his math. (this year that is truly a miracle in my room)All of a sudden he said, to no one in particular "I was born to divide."
Just another "Pleasant Valley Sunday" in the fourth grade.

I realize that I am probably older than dirt, but does any one besides me remember the Pink Pig at Rich's? Or how about the Secret Shop?
